Canada to Bring 22 Level-2 EV Chargers to St. Lawrence College

Canada announced on Monday further investment into electric vehicle (EV) chargers, as the federal government will invest $110,000 CAD ($84,960 USD) to bring 22 Level-2 chargers to St. Lawrence College in Ontario, at campuses in Cornwall, Brockville and Kingston.
Funding will again come from the Natural Resources Canada’s Zero-Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program. St. Lawrence College will add over $160,000 CAD to the project, bringing the total investment to $270,000 CAD ($208,530 USD).
“We’re making electric vehicles more affordable and accessible for Canadians from coast to coast to coast. Investing in more charging stations like the ones announced today on St. Lawrence College campuses will allow more Canadians to be in the driver’s seat on the road to a net-zero future and help achieve our climate goals,” said Jonathan Wilkinson Minister of Natural Resources, in a statement.
Canada recently topped up its federal EV rebate program by $73 million CAD; it offers up to $5,000 CAD rebates for qualifying electric and hybrid vehicles. Recent price increases to the Model 3 in Canada have made the latter no longer qualify for the grant.
By 2035, Canada plans to have all new passenger vehicles sold in the country be zero emission.
