Audi Recalls Some e-tron GT Electric Vehicles Over Air Suspension Problem

After unveiling the 2022 Audi e-tron GT earlier this year, the company has officially filed a small recall for the model due to potential issues with the vehicle’s air suspension.

Audi has recalled a total of 10 e-tron GT vehicles in the U.S., over an air suspension issue found in a follow-up investigation to the initial discovery at an internal road test in September, according to Auto Evolution.

The company found that a retaining ring on the top of the suspension strut is likely to come loose, which causes air to release from the car’s pneumatic spring.

Luckily, Audi hasn’t faced any complaints or warranty claims from customers related to the issue, though it discovered that three of the 10 recalled vehicles have been delivered.

Audi has instructed its authorized retailer network to check the retaining rings, and, if necessary, to perform the fix for free.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) cited a flaw in manufacturing at sub-supplier Vibracoustic GmbH as the cause for the issue, though it also says a very small amount of parts were produced before the flaw was realized.

While the defect was discovered in vehicles produced for the U.S. market between September 14 and 17, Audi has reportedly also worked with the supplier to avoid similar issues in the future.
