Tesla App Not Connecting to Cars, Fix Needed: November 2021 Edition

Can’t connect to your Tesla via the mobile app? You’re not alone, as it appears Tesla’s servers are suffering from an outage.
According to Tesla analytics service, @TeslaFi, the Tesla API has been down since roughly noon, Pacific Time.
The Tesla API has been down since approx 2PM CST. We’ll continue to monitor and hopefully things return to normal soon.

Tesla North readers let us know their mobile apps can’t connect to their Tesla vehicles. When the Tesla app is opened, all they see is the message as seen in our screenshot above, with a spinning circle and “last seen 3 hours ago”.
As of writing, we’re told by some Canadian Tesla owners the API appears to be back up and running for them, as their app can connect to vehicles and perform remote functions such as unlocking and locking doors and controlling climate, for example.
Tesla CEO said he is “checking” the server error, which appears to span the globe:
