Tesla Hikes Price of Model 3/Y by $1,000; Midnight Silver Color Now Free
Tesla has increased the price of its entry Model 3 and Model Y tonight, by $1,000 in the United States (via @SawyerMerritt).
Another major change is the fact Midnight Silver Metallic (MSM) is now a free color, joining Pearl White Multi-Coat.
Previously, MSM was $1,000 USD extra. Also, Solid Black is now a $1,500 extra option, instead of $500 USD for both Model 3 and Model Y. That’s a huge price increase for Solid Black.
The Model 3 RWD now starts at $44,990 (previously $43,990) USD. The Model 3 RWD in Pearl White Multi-Coat has a delivery estimate of September 2022, while Silver is May 2022.
As for the entry Model Y Long Range, it now starts at $57,990 USD, an increase of $1,000 from $56,990 USD.
The Model Y Performance now starts at $62,990 USD.
Midnight Silver Metallic is also now a free color, joining Pearl White Multi-Coat, when previously it was $1,000 USD extra. Also in a change, Solid Black is now $1,500 USD extra.
Tesla also has made upgraded wheels the default choice, so unsuspecting new owners will need to manually downgrade wheels if they want to save a few bucks. However, upgraded wheels do have quicker delivery dates, so opening your wallet does pay off it appears.
Back in early October, Tesla increased the price of its Model 3 and Model Y by $2,000 USD. The company is facing high demand, while a federal EV credit appears to be looming.
MSM is still a premium color in Canada at $1,300 CAD extra.
Good point, will discuss with team. Floki pic tomorrow.
