A London, England resident shared plans to open an electric vehicle (EV) factory in Canada, and has presented an ambitious timeline for getting the job done.

On Tuesday, Faruk Rama, Chairperson of Trouve Victory Inc., announced he’s making a deal for roughly 50 hectares of land east of Toronto, expecting to build an assembly plant and begin production on new EVs as soon as 2023, according to London Free Press.

Purchased from his home in London, Rama hopes to construct an assembly plant on the Ontario land, despite being newcomers to the region’s EV industry.

Rama said, “We have been polluting our environment for a long time. We must wake up before it is too late to start the clean-energy solution.” Rama continued, “This will help the environment… it will make a better world for our children.”

In competition against established automakers like Tesla and a slew of others for market share, supply chain labor and batteries, alongside other hardware components, Trouve Victory comes amidst a burgeoning EV industry in the region.

Some in the auto industry casted doubt on the ambitious plan. “I don’t know them,” said Flavio Volpe, chief executive of the Auto Parts Manufacturers Association (AMPA), speaking to the LFP. The association represents suppliers to automakers.

“I would be wary of anything that compresses timelines. The industry makes 100 million vehicles a year and many in the auto industry are looking to do the same thing,” said Volpe.

Rama also said that the company has suppliers, investors and financial needs prepared already, expecting to have roughly 1,000 employees upon the factory’s planned 2023 opening.

As Tesla CEO Elon Musk has long said, concepts are easy, production is hard. Best of luck to Rama.
