Tesla Hits Milestone: 1 Million Battery Packs Built at Nevada Factory [PICS]

1 millionth battery pack tesla

Tesla reached a milestone recently, building its 1 millionth battery pack at its Gigafactory in Sparks, Nevada, according to a picture obtained and shared by @brandonee916.

The additional photo shares a wider and updated image of the battery pack seen on Reddit nearly a month ago, detailing the milestone.

The picture shows a battery pack that appears to have been signed by all the employees at the site, with the pack labeled with a sign that reads, “We have officially built 1,000,000 packs at Gigafactory Nevada.”

Looking at the battery pack image shared by Brandon, that sign is now adorned in even more signatures and barely legible.

Tesla’s Gigafactory in Sparks, Nevada broke ground in 2014 and by mid-2018, the company said its battery production at the site had “reached an annualized rate of roughly 20 GWh, making it the highest-volume battery plant in the world.”

The Sparks factory produces battery packs using 2170-type cylindrical cells made by Panasonic, also located at the site, for the company’s Model 3 and Model Y vehicles.
