Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk took to the iconic red chairs with Kara Swisher at CodeCon 2021, to discuss everything from crypto, China, SpaceX, Mars, President Joe Biden and more.
Swisher has interviewed numerous tech luminaries in her red chairs before, including the likes of late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and more. No questions are usually off topic with Swisher.
When Swisher asked Musk about his recent Biden tweet, the Tesla CEO explained the backstory.
“Biden held this EV summit…didn’t invite Tesla. Invited GM, Ford, Chrysler and UAW. EV summit—at the White House. Didn’t mention Tesla once and praised GM and Ford for leading the EV revolution,” said Musk.
“So you were pissed?”, asked Swisher?
“Does this sound a little biased, or something? Not the friendliest administration. Seems to be controlled by the unions,” added Musk.
In response to a tweet about Musk’s comments about Biden’s administration and its EV policy being “controlled by the unions”, United Auto Workers Vice President, Cindy Estrada, shot back to say, “He needs to stop whining and just admit that workers should not have to punch out of democracy when they punch into work! Good leaders aren’t afraid of smart workers but embrace them!”.
