Tesla Ends Referral Program for Free Supercharging ‘Until Further Notice’

Tesla has ended its Referral awards program “until further notice,” an announcement made on Friday evening inside the company’s mobile app, under the ‘Loot Box’ section.
“We would like to thank all the loyal Tesla supporters who help us every day to achieve our mission by sharing their enthusiasm for Tesla with friends and family. In 2020 alone, Tesla owners helped accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy by avoiding 5.0 million metric tons of CO2e emissions,” explained Tesla.

“As of September 18, 2021, we are not offering Referral awards in your region until further notice.” The screenshot above was shared by a Tesla North reader in Canada. The change also applies to the United States and China.

“To be eligible for previous referral benefits, all referral orders of Model S, Model X and Model 3 must have been placed between Oct 1, 2019 and September 17, 2021. Orders of Model Y must have been placed between June 9, 2020 and September 17, 2021. Orders of Cybertruck and used Tesla vehicles were not eligible,” Tesla further explains on its website.
While the referral program for free Supercharging miles has been cancelled, orders for Solar Roof are still available. Those referring someone to a solar roof can nab $500 per referral, while friends also get $500 upon permission to operate.
