Lucid Air Dream Edition: First EV with EPA Rating of 520 Miles of Range
The Lucid Air Dream Edition Range received a preliminary EPA rating of 520 miles of range on Wednesday, marking the first electric vehicle (EV) to be rated over 500 miles by the EPA, according to the company in an emailed statement.
Along with the dream Edition Range, the Dream Edition Performance and Grand Touring variants of the Lucid Air have also received their EPA ratings, landing impressive ratings as well.
Lucid CEO and CTO Peter Rawlinson said in a statement to Tesla North, “I’m delighted that our Lucid Air Dream Edition Range has been officially accredited with a range of 520 miles by the EPA, a number I believe to be a new record for any EV. Crucially, this landmark has been achieved by Lucid’s world-leading in-house EV technology, not by simply installing an oversize battery pack.”
Rawlinson continued, “Our race-proven 900V battery and BMS technology, our miniaturized drive units, coupled with our Wunderbox technology endow Lucid Air with ultra-high efficiency, enabling it to travel more miles from less battery energy. The next-generation EV has truly arrived!”
The news comes just weeks after Motortrend called the Lucid Air Dream Edition Range a “Mic Drop,” citing its absolute luxury in every detail between driving, exterior aesthetic and interior comfort.
The first Lucid customers are still awaiting the delivery of the company’s luxury EVs, and it remains to be seen if they are able to keep up production based on demand.
