Tesla has told its internal teams select Model Y owners in parts of the United States and Canada will be receiving free ‘All-Weather Protection Kits’ free of charge.
This kit for Model Y owners consists of both Paint Protection Film (PPF) and Mud Flaps at no extra charge. Tesla says this complimentary offering is for owners in areas where heavy salt, sand, or gravel is used to improve winter road conditions.
According to documents seen by Tesla North, the following regions and service centers qualify for free All-Weather Protection Kits for Model Y:
- Eastern Canada
- West Canada
- Northwest
- New England
- Greater Chicago
- Upper/Lower Midwest
- Great Lakes
- Select locations in Greater New York and Philadelphia
Tesla offered this same All-Weather Protection Kit for Model Y owners earlier this year, joining Model 3 owners in getting the kit free of charge dating back to 2019.
Tesla’s online shop currently offers Model Y PPF for $50 USD (currently out of stock), and Mud Flaps at $40 USD, so the value of the protection kit works out to $90 USD. #winteriscoming
