2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS Production Model Unveiled
Mercedes-Benz USA has revealed the 2022 EQS — its upcoming all-electric luxury sedan, complete with pictures and videos of a production model.
The 2022 EQS focuses heavily on delivering a design and user experience that justifies the hefty price tag that it is virtually guaranteed to be accompanied by, and is touted to offer a premium in-cabin experience that appeals to each of the five senses (and more!)
However, aesthetics are not all that make a luxury vehicle. Under the hood, the EQS will sport a dual-motor, All Wheel Drive setup capable of producing 469hp and 560 lb-ft of torque, enabling the electric vehicle to go 0–60 mph in under 4.5 seconds with a top speed of over 124 mph.
The EQS is speculated to come with a 100 kWh battery that is configured for high-power DC fast charging, with an advertised charging speed of up to 80% in 20 minutes.
The luxury sedan has an estimated WLTP range of 435 miles, which will translate to somewhere around 300 miles under EPA standards.
The 2022 EQS will also feature Mercedes’ new 56-inch ‘Hyperscreen’ for electric cars as well as advanced AI technology, and will also come with a HEPA filtration system installed.
Mercedes-Benz has been pretty tight-lipped about the price of the latest addition to its EQ series, but current estimates suggest a starting price in the neighborhood of $96,000-$100,000 USD.
With the concept unit now ready, Mercedes should start production pretty soon. The EQS is expected to go on sale in the U.S. in the summer of 2021, marking another step forward in Mercedes-Benz’s goal to have a carbon-neutral portfolio within the next 20 years.
