Demand for solar roofing is at an all-time high right now, with Tesla and other companies racing to keep up with new solar orders across North America.

Canadian manufacturer Mitrex, based in Etobicoke, Ontario, has announced entry into the solar roofing market with a new solar roof that mimics the aesthetic of the traditional shingle roof. The company has patented its building-integrated photovoltaic technology (BIPV), significantly expanding the solar charging potential of any building.

Mitrex CEO Danial Hadizadeh said in a statement to Tesla North, “Our solar roof solutions are ideal for homeowners looking to reduce their carbon footprint and make a positive impact on the environment.”

Hadizadeh continued, “With our streamlined installation process, homeowners are now able to tap into solar technology to contribute to a net-zero carbon future without compromising the look of their home.”

While similar products have launched which mimic the look of traditional shingles, like Tesla’s Solar Roof, most require the complete replacement of a person’s rooftop, rather than these designs by Mitrex, which can be affixed directly to the top of an existing surface.

Purchase of Mitrex’s solar roof comes with a 25-year electricity generation warranty and a 30-year material warranty. They can also be installed by any qualified roofer since their installation methods are not dissimilar from those of a regular roof.
