Jaguar to Go All-Electric by 2025, Land Rover EVs Coming 2024
In a new bid to reduce its vehicle emissions to zero, Jaguar Land Rover has announced a new set of electric vehicle (EV) updates, following suit with a number of other brands as they make plans to go green.
On Monday, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) said its entire luxury Jaguar brand would be completely electric by 2025, with the rest of its models launching as electric-only by 2030, as reported by Reuters.
The company, which is owned by India’s Tata Motors, plans six completely-electric vehicle releases over the next five years, with the first to hit the road in 2024.
Following the announcement, shares in Tata Motors rose up to 3%.
UPDATE: Jaguar Land Rover has pledged to keep its three UK car plants open and become an electric-only brand from 2025 as part of its new global Reimagine strategy announced today. JLR will invest £2.5bn a year in electrification technologies and connected services. #UKmfg🇬🇧

JLR’s plans for the Jaguar will be central to its Solihull plant, with all three of the company’s British plants remaining open through the company’s electrification.
Some analysts have suggested that luxury brands in particular, like JLR, may be threatened by Tesla’s upcoming Model S Plaid, as well as gas car bans in California and elsewhere. If they are to survive the transition to sustainable transportation, many posit, they’ll need to make moves to go electric right now, lest they’re left in the dust over the next few decades.
The news is timely, to say the least, and with a number of automakers around the world looking to make the transition to EVs, JLR may well stand the shift from traditional gas cars after all.
