China-Made Tesla Model 3 Coming to AU, NZ, UK and More Hints Website
It appears Tesla may be starting to send Shanghai-made Model 3 builds to overseas markets, based on changes to the company’s online configurator for various markets, according to EV-HQ.
Tesla’s website for Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Germany and more are showing an increased range of 508km (up from 490km), suggesting these builds are from Giga Shanghai and include a heat pump for added efficiency.
Also new is the ability to select 19-inch Sport Wheels for the Standard Range Plus Model 3:

As you can see from the image above, wood panelling is showing as extended to the doors on all versions of the Model 3, which is a characteristic of China’s version of this Tesla sedan.
According to Reddit, some Tesla staff in Australia are citing they are seeing new VINs, suggesting Shanghai builds of the Model 3 may be incoming.
Many have praised Giga Shanghai versions of Tesla Model 3 units as having higher build quality, compared to the company’s Fremont, California factory.
While there is no confirmation these are made-in-China Model 3 versions, it does appear this might be the case.
