We’re close to the end of 2020 and we will soon find out if Tesla will be able to reach its goal of 500,000 cars produced and delivered in a single year.

CEO Elon Musk recently told employees they would need to “go all out” to make the magic 500,000 milestone a reality.

But if we go back to 2014, a Fox Business interview with Musk has the CEO predicting when Tesla will reach 500,000 deliveries, which he says would be the year 2020.

“I feel confident that we will be able to achieve at least half a million cars a year by 2020. Maybe we can do a bit sooner than that, but that’s what I feel comfortable predicting,” said Musk.

The Fox Business interview was unearthed by Viv (@flcnhvy) on the weekend. Musk responded to her tweet by saying, “Liz has always done great interviews,” referring to Fox journalist Liz Claman.

Will Musk be correct in predicting Tesla hitting 500,000 deliveries in 2020? It would be insane if his 2014 prediction pans out; we’ll find out soon enough. If Tesla does achieve its goal, the video above is a prime example of positive thinking and envisioning a goal into reality.
