
Tired of carrying your smartphone as your Tesla key because it’s…not cool enough? Well how about using a MacBook Air instead?
YouTuber tech reviewer, Quinn Nelson, showed off his new Apple Silicon MacBook Air unlocking and controlling his Tesla Model 3. For those unaware, Apple recently launched a trio of Macs that use its own silicon chips instead of Intel. These new chips are called the M1 and are available in the 13-inch MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro and Mac mini.
The addition of M1 means iPhone and iPad apps from the App Store are now available to run on Macs for the first time. Nelson sideloaded the Tesla app onto his new MacBook Air and demonstrated in the video below his new ‘key’ for his Model 3, leveraging the laptop’s Bluetooth connection with his car:

Yes, of course, this is not practical whatsoever, but it’s pretty neat to see. Who’s going to be first to carry their Mac as their Tesla key (you happy to see me or is that a Mac mini in your pocket)?
