Modified Tesla Model Y is One of the World’s Fastest SUVs [VIDEO]
Recently, there was a test done to see which vehicle was the fastest SUV on a track, with several popular brands making the cut. As reported by InsideEVs, this was the first official track test of the modified Tesla Model Y. Owned by Canadian Sasha Anis from Mountain Pass Performance, the company started making adjustments to the vehicle for a few months already.
This video uploaded by Speed Academy claims that the “modified Tesla Model Y is the fastest SUV in the world”. This is essentially a play on words, since you could argue that “fastest” doesn’t mean “quickest”. The Model Y looks stunning with iconic Volk TE37 rims (20 x 11) in Mag Blue.
After having its time recorded, the Tesla Model Y ranked third in the Super Street Class category. The vehicle finished with a time of 1:17.266 on the track, beaten only by a modified turbocharged Porsche and a modified Acura Integra.
The Tesla Model Y would easily dominate the AWD Street Class category, but its tires were a little too wide to qualify. While proving to be more versatile in track races, we can assume that the Model X car could easily be a contender if the trials were based on straight-line acceleration. In fact, the entire leaderboard could look quite different!
