Tesla May Expand Gigafactories in Asia Outside of China: Musk
It’s no secret that Tesla is growing, and Musk has recently met with the Oklahoma governor to discuss plans to potentially build a factory in Tulsa. However, it appears that Musk may have his eye on building more factories in Asia. When the billionaire entrepreneur was asked on Twitter whether he would be expanding factories in Asia, but not in China, he seemed to confirm that the carmaker would, but that its focus was elsewhere at the moment.
Yeah, but first we need to finish Giga Berlin and a second US Giga to serve eastern half of North America

Musk made it clear that he had other priorities currently. He said that the company had to “finish Giga Berlin” and a “second US Giga” before focusing on building another Gigafactory in Asia. There are also plans to ramp up production at the current Tesla factories in Shanghai, Fremont, and Berlin.
He also elaborated that the second US factory would exist to serve the “eastern half of North America.” It makes sense that Tesla is trying to expand factory-wise, as they are chasing a goal of eventually delivering 1 million electric vehicles per year.
Experts believe that if Tesla were to build an Asia-based factory that isn’t in China, that there are two obvious frontrunners: Japan and Korea. This conclusion is natural when you consider that both Japan and Korea are two of the biggest players when it comes to the global automobile market.
