Tesla’s Berlin Gigafactory Construction Update Shown in Drone Flyover [VIDEO]
Tesla has been planning on constructing a Berlin gigafactory for some time now, but it appears as though the first pillars of the facility have been erected. Interestingly, the pillars are made of concrete – a stark contrast from the Shanghai gigafactory which boasts metal pillars.
The Berlin gigafactory is set to be the company’s largest factory yet. Elon Musk has also bragged that the facility would offer new innovations, including the “world’s most advanced paint shop.” Tesla plans on starting production at the new factory in July 2021. Interestingly enough, construction appears to be moving forward despite the fact that Tesla has not received full approval for the project.
As a result, Tesla is reportedly “proceeding at its own risk.” However, there appears to be strong support from local officials. In fact, the street where the factory is being constructed has been renamed “Tesla” by the municipality where the construction is taking place.
Images of the pillars were shared online by @tobilindh yesterday (via Teslarati), along with a drone flyover of the site:

The expectations here are that Tesla will be able to meet European demand without relying on shipments from its American facilities. Once the factory is online, Tesla will officially have three separate factories on three different continents, which will certainly strengthen the company in terms of global markets.
