Canada a “Major Priority” for Starlink Satellite Internet Says Elon Musk

SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk declared his love for Canada this afternoon, after emphasizing his upcoming Starlink satellite internet service would be a priority in the Great White North.

Responding to journalist Peter Nowak sharing his article about Starlink in the Toronto Star, Musk replied on Twitter, “Canada is a major priority for Starlink!”

Musk also confirmed Toronto would be part of the initial launch, but emphasized the service is best for those in low population density situations.

He also said Starlink is “designed to serve the least-served.” Numerous rural Canadians struggle with lack of high-speed internet options and astronomical prices. Starlink internet, based on low-earth orbit (LEO) satellites, aims to change this.

Musk’s Starlink applied for a telecom license back in May with the CRTC, with the submission garnering over 1,800 comments, most supporting the project.

Those seeking to beta test Starlink satellite internet when it’s available can sign up on the company’s recently updated website.
