Telsa Reduces Price of Basic Autopilot to $2,000 USD via In-App Purchase
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has announced basic Autopilot has now lowered in price via in-app purchase in the company’s mobile app.
Previously priced at $3,000 USD, basic Autopilot includes Traffic-Aware Cruise Control and Autosteer. Previously, these features were not available in older Teslas but later became included in today’s models, a change made last April.
“Enabling basic Tesla Autopilot via Tesla in-app purchase is reduced to $2k until July 1,” said Musk on Twitter this evening.

In Canada, the price drop means basic Autopilot is now $2,700 CAD instead of $4,000 CAD, a price drop of $1,300 CAD.
By reducing the price of basic Autopilot, Musk hopes these users upgrading will also take the plunge into Full Self-Driving before the price increase, theoretically saving $2,000 USD.
Musk also reiterated Full Self-Driving will increase in price by $1,000 USD on July 1, 2020, meaning a jump from $7,000 USD to $8,000 USD in the United States.
