Tesla CEO Elon Musk and television personality Jay Leno have a long history with one another. As an avid car enthusiast, Leno has long nurtured an interest in electric vehicles, and Musk’s innovation within the field. In fact, the two met a few times, one most notably appearing in some archived footage where they drove the Tesla Roadster in 2008. A new segment from Leno’s show “Jay Leno’s Garage” shows the two friends sharing a drive in the 2021 Tesla Cybertruck.
Leno begins by asking Musk the question everyone’s wondering: how close is this model to those in production? Musk shares a sentiment present in all Tesla vehicles. He never wants a show car to vary too wildly from a production car. Musk states that the proportions are accurate between the show model and the production model expected for release in 2021.
Musk also suggests that the company will be hard at work improving on small details, such as enhanced visibility. For example, the vehicle’s massive windshield will use armored glass. The doors are constructed with 30x cold-rolled stainless steel that are bulletproof. When asked why the vehicle’s doors need to be bulletproof, Musk gives an answer consistent with his media personality: “because it’s badass and super cool.”
As it stands, Tesla remains on the lookout for the site of its new Tesla Cybertruck production facility.
