Tesla Inc. has long given drivers the ability to charge their electric vehicles in the comfort of their own homes. Implementing the Tesla Wall Connector, Tesla owners can mimic the experience of recharging their vehicle battery at a Supercharger station. However, the electric vehicle maker released updates informing customers of a new feature. With vehicle to grid charging, Tesla aims to tackle yet another energy storage problem in an aim to improve efficiency both for its customers, and the power grid at large. A new video from the YouTube channel Ingineerix takes a closer look at the subject.

In a previous break down video, Ingineerix dissects the power conversion system from the 2018 Model 3. Based on a technical analysis, the channel posits the theory that vehicle to grid charging has not been included in Tesla’s vehicles so far. This contradicts recent news suggesting the company has begun installing the feature on some Model 3 vehicles.

Ingineerix’s latest video continues the exploration of Tesla power conversion system. After diagramming the direction of the system’s diodes and cathodes, it’s clear that vehicle to grid charging is absent here. However, the video also acknowledges the fact that the board used was sourced from 2018.
