Elon Musk Talks to Texas Governor About Tesla Relocation
Tesla Inc.’s relationship with California has taken a few turns for the worse as of late. California forced the massive electric vehicle maker forced to close up shop at its main factory in Fremont due to coronavirus. Tesla complied with the reasonable safety measures. However, in recent weeks, tensions have run high between the company and officials in Alameda County.
In a tweet, Elon Musk even said he may consider moving Tesla out of California and into another state such as Nevada or Texas. Now, in a conversation with the Governor of Texas, it seems that Tesla’s relocation may be more realistic than originally thought.
According to sources at Reuters, an interview with a CBS affiliate in Wichita Falls revealed more information about Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s conversation with Musk. “I’ve had the opportunity to talk to Elon Musk and he’s genuinely interested in Texas and genuinely frustrated with California,” Abbott said. “We’ve just got to wait and see how things play out.”
Of course, Musk hasn’t said he’s certain about the move. As the company has reopened its main factory in Fremont this week, much remains to be seen. After all, Musk said he’s willing to see how the state treats the company in the future.
