Porsche enters the world of electric vehicles with an impressive new offering. While the electric vehicle climate receives lots of hype and talk from Tesla Inc., how does a classic auto maker like Porsche stack up against other electric vehicles? In a new video from the BBC series Top Gear, Chris Harris drives the Porsche Taycan Turbo S.

The Porsche Taycan Turbo S caters to high end, luxury vehicle enthusiasts. Like consumers may have expected from Porsche, the buying price runs quite high. As it stands, the new electric vehicle intends to compete with higher end performance electric vehicles rather than appealing to every day drivers.
As Harris points out, the vehicle drives so smoothly and quietly that even the rain outside the vehicle becomes noisy. Classic Porsche features are present in the Taycan too. A smooth, signature steering wheel and low profile quickly identify the vehicle as a Porsche performance vehicle.
The video also points out some issues that arise from the lacking electric vehicle infrastructure in the United Kingdom. There are currently only four 270 kw chargers in the entire United Kingdom. As Harris reiterates, the technology found in electric vehicles is “miles ahead of infrastructure.” In any case, the Porsche Taycan Turbo S represents an impressive foray into EVs by one of the world’s most impressive auto makers.
