An In-Depth Look at Tesla Traffic Light and Stop Sign Control [VIDEO]

Tesla released a new update last week. While many minor tweaks were introduced with update 2020.12.6, one feature attracted more attention than others. The new beta test version of Traffic Light and Stop Sign Control has Tesla drivers curious. A new video from i1Tesla takes an in-depth look at the new Tesla Autopilot feature.

As the video states, the new mode stops at every traffic light and stop sign. Because the feature is still in beta test mode, it’s important for drivers to pay attention while using Tesla Autopilot. However, as the video also states, because the feature stops at all lights, there is some driver intervention required. Lightly pressing the accelerator at a green light, for example, tells the vehicle that it’s safe to proceed forwards.

To enable the feature, navigate to Autopilot settings. Select Traffic Light and Stop Sign Control to engage the new feature. The video shows the feature at work stopping in an intersection. The further demonstration shows the active touchscreen as it monitors Autopilot activity. Real-time updates such as “stopping for traffic control in x feet” allow drivers to remain aware of all Autopilot activity. The video also shows how responsive the system is as it displays a jogger on the screen and even slows down to accommodate them.
