While the electric vehicle landscape in the United States and elsewhere has been dominated by Tesla Inc. lately, there’s a new competitor coming this summer. The Polestar 2 is set to roll out in the U.S. in summer 2020. A recent press release from Polestar USA provides some details on pricing, and what customers can expect.

Gregor Hembrough, the current head of Polestar USA shared some insights into the electric vehicle’s pricing structure, stating, “The MSRP is lower than we originally targeted, and will be extended to all of our current reservation holders. With an online purchase option, lower pricing, considerable tax incentives, and production already underway, the Polestar 2 is well-positioned for a successful entry into the U.S. market.”

The Polestar begins at an MSRP of $59,900 USD. The press also illuminates some add on features and their prices. A Performance Pack upgrade costs $5,000. The Nappa Leather Interior runs $4,000 while 20-inch alloy wheels sit at a price of $1,200. Metallic paint colors cost an additional $1,200.

While Polestar represents a Swedish brand, the Polestar began production in China in March 2020. The vehicle uses Google Maps and other aspects of the Google Android system to command its software. The Polestar 2 will be available for purchase online this summer. Showrooms are also expected to open in the U.S. later in the summer.
