Grok Bot Can Now Search, Read and Monitor X Without a Connector

Grok Bot can now search, read and monitor X on its own, the official @bot account announced on Wednesday, October 7, giving SpaceXAI’s desktop assistant direct access to posts on the platform without users having to connect anything first.
The announcement itself was one line, “Grok Bot can now search, read, and monitor X,” paired with a short demo video showing the bot digging through posts on request.
In the demo, a user asks Grok Bot to “check X for what people are saying about our mobile app.” The bot pulls up a stack of real posts from users asking for things like iOS widgets and a mobile version of the Grok Bot desktop app, then comes back with a summary that starts with “Looked through 328 X posts in the past few days. Here are the major themes from users.” The video closes on the lines “Grok Bot can now search X,” “read X” and “analyze X.”
What actually changes for users is the setup, because until now getting X data into Grok Bot meant adding a separate X connector. In replies under the announcement, the official Grok account said native search, read and monitoring is available to all Grok Bot users, and that you can just ask your bot to search posts, track topics or watch activity on X. Connecting your own X account through the plugin is still needed for personal data like your home timeline and mentions.
Built-in X access should also help keep Grok Bot’s token usage down, since searching and reading posts no longer has to run through a separate connector. Usage has been a sore spot for some Grok Bot users, though it has been getting better as SpaceXAI keeps optimizing the assistant.
According to those same replies, a bot can also watch X and come back to you with updates, alerts or weekly roundups on topics you choose. That makes it a good fit for routines like tracking a product launch, a competitor or a breaking story. It does not send DMs or cold-message people on X. It can draft posts or messages in your voice, but you review and send them yourself.
Under the post, the @bot account has been answering people who tag it with requests, replying that it’s “sending that to your Grok Bot now.” People who don’t have the app yet get a sign-up link and are told to tag it again once they’re set up.
SpaceXAI hasn’t yet said how far back searches can go, whether there are daily limits on how many posts a bot can read, and whether monitoring frequency differs by plan. The official Grok account said you need an eligible SuperGrok or Cursor plan to use Grok Bot, but the announcement itself didn’t list pricing or plan-specific limits.
The X update lands after a busy few weeks in which SpaceXAI has launched team bots, expanded its coding tools and said Grok Bots are coming to XChat, and on Wednesday Elon Musk said Grok Bot will use the best AI model for each job. Built-in access to X makes the assistant a lot more useful for anyone who already treats the platform as their news feed.
