Tesla has officially rolled out Vehicle-To-Load (V2L) capabilities for all Model Y Premium trims in the United States, allowing owners to power external electronics directly from their car battery.
Buyers can now select a new $80 US Outlet Adapter directly when placing their vehicle order.
Tesla Outlet Adapter displayed with a gray feature panel listing specs: 120V, 20A, 2.4kW max; Mobile Connector required; powers devices like lights and laptops.
With the new adapter and capability, Model Y Premium owners can use their EV to run everyday equipment and small household appliances, such as power tools, camping gear, fans, and space heaters.
According to official specs, the Outlet Adapter offers a maximum power output of 2.4kW at 120V and 20A. Owners will need a Gen 3 Mobile Connector to utilize the V2L setup.
While Tesla has not publicly detailed exact vehicle production cut-off dates for existing owners, Model Y Premium vehicles built since May are confirmed to support the feature, noted @SawyerMerritt.
