Tesla is ramping up its autonomous vehicle efforts, as a new job posting reveals the company is hiring Senior Electrical Design Engineers in Berlin to work specifically on its Robotaxi program.

The successful candidates will join the Low Voltage Hardware team, which is responsible for designing the circuit boards that control hundreds of devices within the vehicle. This includes everything from steering and safety systems to HVAC, seating, and lighting. The role involves “start-to-finish” ownership of hardware, covering the architecture, simulation, and manufacturing of the boards that will power Tesla’s self-driving fleet.

The job description emphasizes a need for expertise in analog and digital circuits, with a specific focus on design for autonomous vehicles. Tesla is looking for engineers who understand fail-safe redundancy, a critical component for vehicles operating without a human driver.

While the position is based in Berlin, the posting highlights a “first-principles” approach to problem-solving and requires proficiency in tools like Altium and Python. Experience in shipping high-volume automotive circuit boards is also listed as a preferred asset.

This move signals Tesla’s continued push to localize its most advanced engineering efforts in Europe as it prepares for the eventual rollout of its autonomous ride-hailing service.
