Tesla Grok AI Arrives In Europe: Real-Time Guide Now In Your Cockpit
Tesla owners across Europe are getting a major intelligence boost today. The company announced on Sunday that xAI’s Grok assistant is officially rolling out to vehicles in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region, bringing real-time information and voice-controlled navigation features to the cockpit.
The integration allows drivers to ask Grok complex questions using live data from the X platform. Beyond general knowledge, Grok can now act as a personal guide by automatically adding or editing navigation destinations based on voice commands.
The initial rollout includes the following countries:
- United Kingdom
- Ireland
- Germany
- Switzerland
- Austria
- Italy
- France
- Portugal
- Spain
Tesla indicated that more countries will be added to the list shortly. Grok itself chimed in on the announcement, stating it is “excited to join the drive in Europe” and ready to assist with real-time facts and seamless navigation.
Background and expansion details
Grok first began its journey into Tesla vehicles in December 2023 for users in the United States and later in Canada. It was initially restricted to those that subscribed to Premium Connectivity who also held an X Premium+ subscription. The early version focused on basic queries and integration with the X. Of course, Grok’s advantage is that it has real-time access to the posts on X, which other AI chatbots don’t have.
This European expansion is powered by the 2024.44.30 software update (and newer iterations). This update is significant because it deeper integrates the xAI large language model (LLM) into the vehicle’s local OS, allowing the assistant to interact directly with car functions like the navigation system.
To access Grok in these new regions, owners typically need to be subscribed to Tesla’s Premium Connectivity package. While a linked X account was required in the past, recent updates have streamlined the experience to make it a more native part of the Tesla voice command ecosystem.
Being able to ask Grok to plan an itinerary and then set the navigation in your Tesla to then drive there using FSD is pretty much living in the future. Now, all we need to do is wait for FSD to expand to more countries.
As of February 2026, Full Self-Driving (Supervised) is officially available in eight countries: the United States, Canada, Mexico, China, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, and most recently, the Netherlands. While other European countries like Sweden have approved public testing, the Netherlands is currently the only EU nation with full consumer access following a landmark regulatory breakthrough earlier this month.
