Tesla’s Final Cybercab Design Just Leaked: What’s Different?

Tesla’s upcoming Cybercab appears to be inching closer to production, and a newly surfaced video may give us the clearest look yet at what the final version could look like. Footage and photos shared by longtime Tesla watcher Sawyer Merritt (@SawyerMerritt), originally provided by @Cory__17, show what appears to be a production-ready Cybercab on display at Tesla’s Santana Row showroom in California.

Compared to the Cybercab prototype Tesla unveiled in October 2024, the latest version shows a long list of design refinements — both inside and out — that strongly suggest the vehicle is nearing its official production start, which Tesla has said is on track for spring 2026.

One of the most noticeable changes is at the rear. The Cybercab’s trunk has been redesigned with a slightly narrower opening, while the side humps seen on earlier versions are now gone. The interior lining has shifted to a more rugged, durable material instead of fabric, and the powered struts appear significantly stronger. There’s also a new trunk latch design, a centrally located close button on the hatch, and what looks like possible venting toward the back. The rear hatch itself has also been subtly reshaped.

Inside, the Cybercab continues to evolve. The door cards feature a new design with updated trim and handle areas, while frameless windows give the cabin a cleaner, more modern look. Ambient lighting has been refreshed, and Tesla appears to have swapped in a new carpet material along with redesigned seats that include upgraded bottom cushions for better comfort. A new slit running across the dashboard could hint at revised air venting.

Perhaps most striking is the massive center display. At roughly 21 inches, it’s now described as the largest screen ever fitted to a Tesla, and it’s been pushed further into the dashboard for a more integrated look, rather than appearing suspended as before. The center console also adds two upward-facing USB-C ports. Take a look at the new design in the video below:

Externally, the Cybercab now sports a redesigned front bumper with an extended lower splitter, an updated front light bar with integrated headlights, dual windshield wipers instead of one, new wheel covers paired with thicker tires, and powered butterfly doors with open/close buttons positioned near the bottom of the B-pillar. The powered door mechanisms and struts throughout the vehicle also appear to be all-new.

The Cybercab is Tesla’s upcoming two-seat, all-electric autonomous vehicle designed specifically for its Robotaxi network. The company has already been testing Cybercab prototypes on public roads, first in California and more recently in Austin, Texas. This follows Tesla’s move to begin unsupervised Robotaxi testing in Austin, a major milestone for its Full Self-Driving ambitions.

With production expected to begin in roughly four months, this latest sighting strongly suggests Tesla is locking in the Cybercab’s final design as it prepares to scale up manufacturing and deploy the vehicle as a cornerstone of its future autonomous ride-hailing service.
