Starlink is giving Canadians another reason to sign up for its satellite internet service. The company this week launched a limited-time promotion on its Roam plans, dropping the price of the 50GB subscription from $70 CAD to just $39 CAD per month for the first six months. That’s a 44% discount, available only to new customers. After the introductory period, the plan reverts to its standard $70 rate.
The Roam Unlimited plan is also seeing a steep discount, with pricing slashed from $189 to $110 CAD per month for the first six months. Both offers apply to one service line and represent more than 40% off the regular monthly price. Starlink announced the promo in emails sent out earlier this week.
Starlink Roam is built for mobility, making it a popular option for RV owners, boaters, campers, and off-grid explorers who need connectivity where traditional cellular service isn’t reliable or available. With low-latency, high-speed internet available across the coverage area, subscribers can stream, navigate, video call, or work remotely without worrying about dead zones.
The promo comes shortly after Starlink removed its free “Pause” feature that was hugely beneficial for Roam customers, allowing seasonal travelers to suspend their service at no cost. In its place, the company has introduced a $7 CAD ($5 USD) per month “Standby Mode” that offers unlimited low-speed internet for those not needing full connectivity. The new discount may be aimed at softening the impact of this change and drawing in fresh subscribers despite the added commitment.
On top of the cheaper Roam plans, Starlink is also offering $350 off its Standard dish kit in Canada, dropping the price to just $249 CAD. That means new users can get a dish and six months of discounted Roam service for a steep entry price. The Standard dish is also 50% off across the U.S. In both countries, Starlink recently cut monthly Residential plan fees in certain regions.
These moves come as Starlink continues to aggressively expand its footprint. The service now boasts more than seven million users worldwide across 150 countries and territories. A similar Roam promotion is currently running in France, Germany, and Spain, with discounts of up to 48% on both the 50GB and Unlimited plans, per the Starlink website.
With cheaper hardware and aggressive subscription discounts, Starlink appears laser-focused on growing its customer base even further — especially among travelers looking for reliable internet wherever they go.
