2024.45.25.10 Release Notes: Tesla FSD 12.6 for HW3

Tesla has started rolling out its 2024.45.25.10 software update, which includes Full Self-Driving 12.6 for Hardware 3 (HW3) vehicles for the first time.

According to Tesla’s head of Autopilot and AI, Ashok Elluswamy, he says, “Pulled in a few important improvements from v13 into this 12.6 release for AI3. Initially rolling out to S/X customers, other platforms should be within a week.”

So this means this initial FSD 12.6 rollout is for Model S and Model X customers first (refresh vehicles), and it brings some improvements from FSD 13. Other Tesla vehicles are set to get this 12.6 update within a week, which is exciting news.

Here are the 2024.45.25.10 release notes from Tesla. This brings end-to-end on highway to HW3/AI3 vehicles for the first time:

  • End-to-End on Highway: Enhances autonomous driving functionality on highways.
  • Improved City Streets Behavior: Reduces false slowdowns and improves obstacle avoidance in urban environments.
  • Customizable Speed Profiles: Applicable to roads and highways with speed limits of 50 mph (80 kph) or higher.
  • Earlier and More Natural Lane Change Decisions: Enhances safety and smoothness during lane changes.
  • Redesigned Controller: Delivers smoother and more accurate tracking for improved driving performance.
  • Max Speed Update: Autopilot now determines suitable speeds within the user’s allowed limit.

The Tesla AI team continues to churn out so many updates, even during the holidays. Impressive stuff. We’ll stay tuned for the first FSD 12.6 drives. Let’s hope that another free FSD trial is released for HW3 owners, to test out 12.6 (and provide even more data back to Tesla).
