Tesla has announced a “conditional” settlement in its lawsuit against Rivian, which began in 2020. The case accused Rivian of hiring former Tesla employees to steal trade secrets about electric vehicle technology.
The settlement terms haven’t been shared publicly, but Tesla told a California judge it plans to dismiss the case by December 24 if the agreement is fully met, reports Bloomberg Law.
The conflict started over four years ago when Tesla claimed Rivian was targeting its employees and taking confidential information, especially related to advanced battery technology.
Tesla alleged that some employees were caught with sensitive data. Rivian has consistently denied the accusations, calling the lawsuit an attempt to block competition in the electric vehicle market.
After Rivian’s attempts to dismiss the lawsuit were denied, the case was headed for trial in March before the settlement was reached.
