Tesla said at its “We, Robot” event that its CyberCab would not have a charge port, but rather be charged automatically wirelessly.
Today, Tesla teased how this would work by showing a CyberCab reverse by itself over a wireless charging pad.
The charging screen shows “wireless charging” and displayed the demo car at 35% state of charge, while up to 25kW charge being delivered and 56 minutes remaining, but no mention if that was going to be to 80% or 100%. Take your guess on the possible math about how big the battery pack will be.
We’ve long seen the “snake” concept for typical plug in Supercharging, but that’s no longer the case for Robotaxi.
It remains to be seen where Tesla will install these wireless charging pads. What happens when they are outdoors in areas that have snow? Snow plows will destroy these wireless charging pads, so they may need to be in parkades or covered areas.
