Tesla China Surpasses Last Year’s Sales in Strong Q3 Performance

Tesla’s sales in China surged in September, with reports indicating a significant increase in registrations.

According to data shared by @Tslachan, Tesla China recorded 14,400 insured units for the week of September 1-8, followed by 16,200 the next week, and 15,600 units for the week of September 9-15. This marks a strong third quarter for the company, surpassing last year’s sales figures.

For 2023, after 37 weeks, Tesla saw 416,874 cars registered. But in 2024, after the same 37 weeks, the number is at 423,987, showing growth year-over-year.

Roland Pircher also noted that Tesla’s September 9-15 registrations hit 15.6k, resulting in a 26.0% increase quarter-over-quarter and a 20.3% year-over-year rise. Year-to-date (YTD) sales are up 1.9% compared to last year, with Q3 shaping up to be one of Tesla’s best quarters in China.

Additionally, Tesla China shared insights on the battery life of its vehicles, stating that after driving 320,000 km, the Model S/X retains 88% of its battery capacity, while the Model 3/Y retains 85%. The Model Y remains one of the most energy-efficient SUVs, capable of traveling over 6 km on just 1 kWh of power.
