Tesla Owners Need to Reorder to Get $1,000 Loyalty Discount
Tesla owners with active vehicle orders placed before August 24 may need to take additional steps to access the company’s recently introduced $1,000 loyalty incentive.
Tesla recently re-launched its referral program in the USA and Canada, in a push to get customers to refer friends and family to buy a new Model S/X or Model 3/Y.
According to Tesla owner Dan Burkland, the incentive will not be automatically applied to existing orders. To receive the benefit, owners must place a new order for the same vehicle configuration using the same email associated with their Tesla account.
Burkland outlined the process on X, advising that owners should work with their local Tesla team to put the original order on hold. If a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) has already been assigned, Tesla may be able to transfer it to the new order, though this is not guaranteed.
After placing the new order, the original one can be canceled, but owners will forfeit the $250 order fee, effectively reducing the incentive to $750 USD. Hey, that’s still a good chunk of change and savings on a new Tesla.
Burkland successfully navigated this process, retaining his original VIN and delivery timeline. He noted that the process is simpler for those without an assigned VIN, as they can place a new order and cancel the previous one without additional complications.
