Tesla Megapacks at Condor Energy Storage Project Now Live

Arevon Energy has announced the completion and start of operations for its 200 megawatt (MW)/800 megawatt-hour Condor Energy Storage Project in San Bernardino County, California.

The project, featuring Tesla’s Megapack 2 XL battery system, will power up to 150,000 homes for up to four hours during peak electricity demand and provide an estimated $25 million in property tax payments over its lifespan.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony last week marked the project’s launch, with stakeholders and community leaders in attendance. Kevin Smith, CEO at Arevon, delivered remarks alongside Mayor Bill Hussey of Grand Terrace, Council Member Jeff Allen, and David Lincoln, Senior VP at Rosendin Electric, Inc.

“The Condor Energy Storage Project signifies our ongoing commitment to energy storage technologies and advancing clean, renewable energy,” Smith said. Mayor Hussey added, “Arevon has come up with a solution for our clean renewable energy needs.”

Tesla’s Megapack 2 XL is known for its advanced technology and safety features. Tesla is also contracted to provide operations and maintenance services for the project. Southern California Edison (SCE) has purchased the project’s capacity under a long-term agreement.

Rosendin Electric, Inc. served as the engineering, procurement, and construction provider, employing local electrical workers to build the facility. “Rosendin values the hardworking teams that dedicated 280,000 work hours on this project,” Lincoln said.
