Tesla Full Self-Driving (FSD) beta tester, Chuck Cook (the king of testing unprotected left turns with FSD), asked earlier this week when will Cybertruck get FSD beta?
“@elonmusk we’re eager to know the timeline for the @cybertruck getting FSDBeta. Is it dependent on the public release of v12, or are there specific training issues with HW4 on the Cybertruck that necessitate a separate training and model? We’d love to learn more!” said Cook on December 29.
Musk replied to Cook to say, “Cybertruck is necessarily lowest priority for FSD, as there only a few hundred Cybertruck in the field compared to ~5 million other Teslas.”
This means Cybertruck owners who paid for FSD will have to wait longer for the beta software to land on their trucks. Maybe a release will take place sometime in 2024?
It does make sense as Cybertruck only started deliveries at the end of November. Currently, Tesla employees have FSD beta v12.1, which is based entirely on neural nets and is a step change compared to FSD beta 11. It’s unclear when FSD beta v12.1 will make it to beta testers, but in the meantime, check out this employee video of the v12.1 in action.
