Tesla has made price changes this week to paint options for its Model Y.
The price for Solid Black in the U.S. has increased from $1,500 to $2,000, a $500 increase. It’s unclear why Tesla made the change but it might be tied to demand for the paint color.
As it stands, here are the pricing for Model Y paint:
- Midnight Silver Metallic – included
- Pearl White Multi-Coat – $1,000
- Deep Blue Multi-Coat – $1,000
- Solid Black – $2,000
- Red Multi-Coat – $2,000
In 2019, black was the included paint color before for the Model 3, before Tesla switched to white for both Model 3 and Y, and now Midnight Silver Metallic (a change from July 2023). In Canada, black paint has increased from $1,300 CAD to $2,000 CAD.
Solid Black paint for the Model 3 remains at $1,500 (for now).
