FLO Adds Lockscreen EV Charging Status for iPhone Users
FLO, the North American electric vehicle (EV) charging network operator and smart charging solutions provider, has unveiled a new feature on its highly-rated mobile app for iOS users.
The feature, a first of its kind, allows users to monitor their charging session directly from their phone’s lock screen, eliminating the need to unlock the phone or open an app. This functionality extends to both public and home charging stations on the FLO network and its major roaming partners.
Nathan Yang, FLO’s Chief Product Officer, highlighted the convenience this feature brings to EV drivers. “EV drivers charging their vehicle at a public or home FLO station and major roaming partners now only need to glance at their phone’s lock screen to know the status of their charging session,” he said. “This unique feature is just the latest step by FLO to deliver the best charging experience for all EV drivers.”
Since its launch, FLO’s app has consistently received high ratings from customers, boasting an average 4.7-star rating on the Apple App Store in both the U.S. and Canada. This makes it one of the best-rated EV charging applications.
Yang emphasized the importance of easy access to charging station information for EV drivers. “Viewing where charging stations are located at a glance and quickly identifying if they are being used are critical steps in the EV charging experience. This is why FLO offers its EV charging network in the palm of a user’s hand and on the go,” he said.
Available for both iOS and Android users, FLO’s app helps consumers locate FLO network charging stations, see real-time availability of network chargers, and manage their FLO HomeTM X5 charging stations. Thanks to FLO’s roaming agreements, EV drivers can access almost 75,000 public stations with their FLO account. The app also supports in-car display via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Key features of the app include real-time status of available EV charger locations, filters for station search by charging speed, fee, or plug type, tracking of EV charging progress with status messages, and management of a FLO HomeTM X5 charging station, including setting a charging schedule and duration of charge. Users can also restrict usage, see their charging history, check charging speeds, and more.
Back in June, FLO announced it had partnered with Tesla to adopt the latter’s North American Charging Standard (NACS), bringing support for the Tesla charging connector.
