Aston Martin Partners with Lucid for High-Performance EV Lineup

ASTON MARTIN TO CREATE INDUSTRY LEADING ULTRA LUXURY HIGH PERFORMANCE ELECTRIC VEHICLES

British luxury automaker Aston Martin has announced a strategic supply agreement with Lucid Group on Monday.

The partnership aims to develop a range of ultra-luxury high-performance electric vehicles, marking a significant step in Aston Martin’s electrification strategy.

The agreement will see Lucid Group supply Aston Martin with advanced electric powertrains and battery systems. These technologies will be central to Aston Martin’s new in-house Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) platform, with the deal worth over $450 million USD.

The electrification programme is a key component of Aston Martin’s broader sustainability strategy, dubbed “Racing. Green.”. The company plans to invest over £2 billion in advanced technologies over the next five years, transitioning from internal combustion engine (ICE) to BEV technology.

Lawrence Stroll, Executive Chairman of Aston Martin, hailed the agreement with Lucid as a “game changer” for the company’s future growth.

“We will not only leverage the significant investments Lucid has made to develop its world-class technologies, but will also further enhance and differentiate the drive experience through the work Roberto Fedeli and his teams are already developing, aligned with our ultra-luxury, high-performance strategy,” said Stroll.

Aston Martin’s new BEV platform will underpin its entire future electrified model range, from hypercars to sports cars, GTs and SUVs. The first of these models is targeted for launch in 2025.

By 2026, all new Aston Martin model lines will feature an electrified powertrain option, with the long-term objective for its core range to be fully electrified by 2030.

Mercedes-Benz AG will continue to provide Aston Martin with access to a range of world-class technologies, including powertrain and electric/electronic architectures for current and future generation Aston Martin vehicles, including internal combustion engine, hybrid and electric vehicles.

“The proposed agreement with Lucid forms a significant pillar of our electrification strategy, providing Aston Martin with access to the industry’s leading powertrain and battery systems technology,” said Roberto Fedeli, Chief Technology Officer of Aston Martin.

The partnership with Lucid Group underscores Aston Martin’s commitment to creating a world-leading sustainable, ultra-luxury high-performance brand. The company’s sustainability strategy, “Racing. Green.”, is emblematic of a brand focused on building brilliant cars for future generations.

Again, time will tell if Aston Martin can produce its EV lineup on schedule, as Lucid itself has been struggling to ramp up production of its Lucid Air electric sedan.
