Tesla CEO Elon Musk Regains Title as World’s Richest Man
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has regained the title of the world’s richest man, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, which tracks the daily ranking of the globe’s richest people, based on the stock prices of their companies.
With Tesla stock rebounding from an ugly 2022 and has surged 24.58% in the past month, and 92% year-to-date, Musk now sits atop the ranking with a total net worth of $187 billion USD, with a $6.98 billion increase on Monday after the company’s stock went up 5.46% by the time of the closing bell.
Year-to-date, Musk’s net worth has increased by $50.1 billion, riding the rise of Tesla’s stock prices yet again. Sitting in second place now is France’s Bernard Arnault, the CEO of luxury goods maker LVMH, worth $185 billion USD.
Amazon’s Jeff Bezos sits in third place with $117 billion, Bill Gates in fourth at $114 billion and Warren Buffett at $106 billion, rounding out the top five. Larry Ellison, Steve Ballmer, Larry Page, Carlos Slim and Muskeh Ambani take places sixth to tenth, respectively.
Musk lost his title of the world’s richest man back in December, after shares of Tesla continued to tumble at the end of 2022, which coincided with the billionaire selling off 22 million shares of the automaker, worth $3.58 billion to likely to be used towards his new Twitter acquisition.
Tesla and Musk are set to hold their highly anticipated Investor Day on March 1, where the company’s “master plan” part three will be unveiled, with many expecting it to be related to a breakthrough in mass market EV manufacturing.
