Lucid Motors to Offer ‘Lucid Care’ Mobile Repair Service, Over the Air Updates

Lucid Motors detailed its ‘Lucid Care’ service on Wednesday, revealing its mobile service fleet and also over-the-air software updates for its Lucid Air electric vehicle.

Lucid Care will consist of mobile repair service vans that come to you for maintenance, servicing and most repairs. The company says each van will include its own coffee machine to brew a cup of coffee for owners.

Also, Lucid will over over-the-air software updates and remote diagnostics for repairs, similar to what was pioneered by Tesla.

Lucid says there will also be roadside assistance available 24/7, 365 days per year, complimentary for the first four years or 50,000 miles (whichever comes first).

Customers can also take their Lucid Air to service facilities in the U.S. and Canada, along with a network of certified body repair centres in “major markets”.

Lucid Motors gave an investor presentation yesterday, detailing its Lucid Air Dream Edition is fully reserved, while total Air reservations are over 10,000 units. The company says it is on track for production start in the second half of 2021 for customer deliveries.

The slide deck points out Tesla is “innovative but not luxury”, unlike Lucid and its “post-luxury” brand, hoping to join established players like BMW, Audi and Mercedes.
